GET DOWN. STAY DOWN. is a music project built on a simple conviction: no one above, no one below. Guided by principles of equality, solidarity, and shared humanity, the project exists to challenge hierarchy, amplify collective voices, and use music as a unifying force.
Mikey Sabatella, a musician based in Los Angeles, created GET DOWN. STAY DOWN. in January 2025. His musical journey began in 1999 as a singer and guitarist and later expanded into drumming in 2011. Mikey wrote and performed LP one, shaping the project’s foundation through direct, message-driven songwriting and performance.
Eric Braun is a producer and recording engineer based in Austin, TX. Initially joining the project as an advisor, his role expanded into full collaboration and his production guidance played a key role in shaping LP one.
Friends for over 20 years, this marks Mikey and Eric’s first formal collaboration. Their second release is currently in preproduction. LP one was self-recorded, mixed, and mastered.
GET DOWN. STAY DOWN. exists to inspire unity through music and bring attention to human rights issues the project stands firmly behind.
